This wine is a luscious Rhone-style blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, and a smidgeon of Viognier. The Rhone region of France is known for very elegant wines including Cote Rotie, Hermitage, Condrieu, Chateuneuf du Pape, Cotes du Rhone and several others. The region is famous for some of the best wines in the world and the same varietals grow just as well or better in Santa Barbara County, CA.
This wine opens with bright blackberry, black pepper, and just a touch of vanilla aromas. It has a nice mouth feel with crisp acidity, ample tannin, and blackberry and plum flavors followed by butter and vanilla on the finish and exhale. Enjoy alone or with dried berries, medium to strong cheeses, or even pair it with a spicy barbequed steak or grilled portabella mushroom.
Enjoy now through 2012.
