2009 Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Barbara County 15.1% alc
Sauvignon Blanc has been planted in California since the 1880s. Some came from the vineyards of the legendary Sauternes Chateau Y'Quem, world's most expensive and famous dessert wine. These plantings did well and Sauvignon Blanc became one of the early American favorite wines, albeit mostly in a sweet style. For the last few decades it has made a comeback as a dry wine.
This Sauv Blanc has crisp aromas of grass, pineapple, citrus, with just a hint of wildflowers – a truly wonderful mix. These aromas are followed by these same flavors and a crisp acidic finish. A wonderful wine to enjoy with tart apples, citrus fruits, and pineapple – or alone of course!
